The main character, whose name is not revealed, has suffered an injury in a particle accelerator that altered him fundamentally. These are hoped to assist with creating food and the development of an atmosphere. An eccentric bio-geneticist, Neals Wells, creates intelligent beings adapted to the Martian atmosphere. Creating intelligent life is illegal, so he flees with his creation into the Valles Marinaras, an immense Martian canyon where it has been found not practical to set up settlements. His creation propagates and, after a few centuries, develops into a small tribe.
Inevitably, the Martians come in contact with the humans who are terraforming the planet. This eventually leads to raids and war between the two species. Both species are similar but fighting for their survival. There can only be one winner in this contest, or can there?
This is the first part of the series’ Mars is for Martians’. It spans several centuries of terraforming and conflicts between the human settlers and the Martians.

Brad is having an affair with Maxine Dale, his executive assistant. Brad implements a scheme to drive his wife Audra insane through the use of his new technology. He does this in order to take over the company. Audra, Brad’s wife and part-owner of the company is having an affair with Martin Cooper, the senior engineer at virtual perfection.
While this is going on, Audra’s uncle and Chairman of the board for VP is working on a deal to sell an Artificial Intelligence system to the Army. It will integrate all commands and remove the human decision from the command structure, making it completely run by computers. Army command, as well as government, is resistant to this idea. A secret group is working to eliminate the opposition through perfect crime. This is achieved through the use of VR technology.
Several other characters and subplots interact with these to create a murder mystery story fused with virtual reality. Who is responsible for what? What is the real plot remains elusive throughout? What is really happening and what is virtual reality remains an intriguing and captivating mystery throughout the entire story.
The Virtual Soul of the City is a technothriller set in the near future. It goes to great lengths to display likely technology, interesting characters along with several intermeshed and intricate pots. The result is a captivating mystery that should appeal to a wide range of people.

The group is soon challenged by an ancient society run by a warlock from antiquity who plans to destroy the fabric of society. All other magicians lack the unity to defeat him, so it is left to the young group of teenagers to combine their powers, their wits, and their spirits to confront him.
