Norman Ives is a tinkerer who likes to restore old music boxes from an age the world has left behind. In a world where most people have recycled their old bodies for new ones, he is reluctant to replace the one that has carried him through his sixty-three years of life.

His doctor, his friends and his wife tell him he is crazy to delay the transfer into a new and younger body. Life is waiting for him and death approaches as his old body degrades.
