You should center on a periodic and regular basis in order to benefit over the long term. I suggest three to five minutes of sessions, several times a day. Begin by setting a manageable pace for yourself and then build on it. It is better to do shorter sessions consistently than longer sessions inconsistently.
Where are the best places and times to do it? Outdoors, surrounded by nature is the best location. However, this is not always possible, so find a quiet place free from distractions and interruptions. Your sessions will be more effective if you choose one location rather than changing locations every time you practice. The single most important thing to remember is performing it consistently. If you need to change the location from time to time, don’t worry about it.
How often should you do it? You should pick a pace that is comfortable and you will be able to maintain. While it is better to practice less often at first and build on the frequency, you will need to do it often enough to feel the benefits.
That is why you suggest once or twice daily. The best times are at the beginning or end of your day. If every day is too much, take time off from your practice on the weekends. You will have the most success in maintaining your practices if you attach it to an existing routine, like after you take your shower. You should try to practice at the same time every day. This will help build your routine. If this is not possible, it is better to practice than not practice at all, so fit it in when you can.
Situations were Centering can have a substantial impact. Centering is very effective during presentations or meetings. It helps to keep you focused and in control of the flow of the meeting. Centered Breathing is very effective in enhancing and maintaining your concentration when you are working on intricate or complex problems. Centered Breathing can also be used to stimulate your creative potential when you are doing something artistic such as creative writing or graphic design. When are the times you would most like to be centered?
